Information on Slide Exits

Safety Area

A safety area (see illustration opposite) in accordance with DIN EN1176 is required at the slide exit. This base layer (impact protection) can be made of various materials.

Sand / Gravel

The safety area can consist of washed sand or gravel. In order to avoid risk of injury, the sand or gravel area should have an overall layer thickness of at least 20 cm.

Shredded Bark Mulch

In the event that the slide exit or the safety area leads into a garden or park, also shredded bark might be used as means of impact protection. The layer thickness in that case should be at least 30 cm.

Impact Protection Slabs

Impact protection slabs prove to be advantageous in the case of paved areas. Straight slabs for ground installation as well as edge bevelled slabs for dowel installation are available from atlantics.

Specially Designed Exit

Should the required sideways safety clearance of at least 1.00 metre not be feasible due to constructional reasons, among others a specially constructed slide exit consisting of an extended side wall might be used to meet the standards required by the TÜV (Technical Inspection Authority).
